3/28/2023 0 Comments Skychart lx90![]() ![]() It's a Gemini mount with Pulsar controller.īut for our recent wonderful Neowise visitor, due to its position low in the Northern sky I had to use a portable setup (with Autostar 497). I have a computer with my main setup, and use a planetarium program to link to my mount and GOTO particular objects that aren't in the controller database. I suppose if you want to follow several comets it's worth the effort of loading the data into the Autostar. serving astronomical sciences since 1971 There are perhaps 3-4 dozen that can be captured by CCD, nearly all of these 12th magnitude and fainter.īut this is the file that you need if you want to monitor comets remember that comet motions change rapidly from day to day and particularly in a month's time, so the listing that you input will need to be updated at least every 30 days. Nearly all of the comets in the "observable comets" listing from MPC are currently NOT observable nor visible in amateur telescopes even via CCD. ![]() So a user would need to put the entire listing/file in the Autostar Updater and then EDIT out the ones that are not needed/wanted. Presently the entire listing of comets on the MPC file that you are referencing is far too large a file size for the Autostar 497 or Audiostar cannot remember the exact file size but it is around 320k, just fine for the Autostar II, but not the 497. it (along with 15 other formats) was provided as a service by the Smithsonian Astro Observatory at Harvard as a public service. I'll go see if i can locate the current "Meade-format" file. I do not know if Andrew's MyScope app can handle the CometEls.txt format. ![]() they have to have a specific number of characters between the "|" separators. The name (C/1995 O1 (Hale Bopp)) gets moved to the front of the line, and the MPC number is optional.Īll of the data elements in the "old" format are fixed-width fields. The next five data fields are in the same order as the "old", then skip the "20200805" (the 2020 goes in place of the old "2000") the next two numbers (-2.0 and 4.0) fit into the old fomat. so i'm going to see if that format is still available) (my "old" example was from a 2019 "fetch". The uncomplicated and very easy to transport LX90 telescopes are not only popular with beginners, but also guarantee many years of amateur astronomy fun.Unfortunately, the format of the comet data in CometEls.txt differs a bit from what Meade's Updater expects. Thanks to the integrated GPS, the computer control always knows where the telescope is located, and also knows the date and time. The AudioStar handheld control helps this process with over 30,000 objects, including the most important catalogues (Messier, NGC etc.) and of course the planets of our solar system. These celestial objects can be easily found using the GoTo computer control. ![]() Together with the stepper motors, this guarantees smooth and precise tracking of the selected celestial objects. The motorised LX90 mount has a generously-sized gearbox with a 125-millimetre diameter worm gear. They have the same high-quality ACF optics with UHTC coating as those found in larger Meade telescopes. Meade’s compact Schmidt-Cassegrain optics are built into a stable aluminium fork mount. Telescopes in the LX90 series are perfect for a serious introduction to amateur astronomy, or for the transition from a simpler telescope system. ![]()
